Official registration trials, DUS and VCU, still depend on visual notation by expert panels. Panel scoring is labor-intensive, hard to replicate from one examiner to the next and difficult to defend when a candidate variety is refused. As the number of candidates grows, manual notation becomes the bottleneck of the whole registration pipeline.
PhenoScale drone imaging covers the entire trial in one flight and extracts standardized traits on every plot: Organs Density, Organs Count Heterogeneity and Plant Cover, measured with a documented, reproducible protocol. Each value is time-stamped and geo-referenced in Cloverfield, so the full measurement chain can be replayed after the fact.
Examiners gain objective, examiner-independent evidence that complements panel scoring, shortens notation campaigns and makes every registration decision auditable. On wheat, digital head counts have been validated against manual counting on several sites, with a repeatability that visual notation cannot match.
