A variety trial scored on two or three dates ranks varieties on snapshots. Two hybrids can reach the same yield by very different routes, one establishing fast and fading early, the other holding its canopy to the end, and the snapshots cannot tell them apart.
PhenoScale flights repeated through the season measure Organs Density, Organs Count Heterogeneity, Mean Plant Height and Green Cover on every plot. Cloverfield assembles the full developmental trajectory of each variety and compares them over time.
Each variety becomes a trajectory rather than an isolated score. Benchmarking on how varieties build and hold performance exposes stability differences that single-date scoring misses entirely, on maize and sunflower trials of several hundred to several thousand plots.
